Ligth Energy and Lamps

The whole world is facing an energy crisis. The more electrical energy we produce with fossil fuels the more CO2 we put into the atmosphere. Lighting accounts for about 21% of commercial energy and about 12% of home energy use. The lights in the average household produce just over a ton of carbon dioxide each year.

How to save energy.... The tungsten lamp versus the LED (Light Emitting Diode) is a battle being fought right now. The tungsten lamp will lose because it is so inefficient. LEDs are remarkably robust and efficient sources of light but even they are not as efficient as the Glow worm!

Compare the two Sankey diagrams. How many times more efficient is the energy saving bulb compared to the filament bulb.
